People always forget about Calhoun and Felix and, honestly, that couple is the most beautiful to me. It breaks stereotypes, it doesn’t show the woman as soft and the man as macho; Felix didn’t have to win her; he stayed with her till the end, despite her triggers, despite her past, and that was enough for her. And she’s not the woman most men would go for. Beyond physical appearance, she’s damaged, ruthless, blunt, and a marine. She protected him at the bridge (“Fix-it, get behind me!”) instead of the other way around.
She doesn’t build up his manliness or radiate innocence; Hell, she’s seen more horror than he ever has. And it’s usually the opposite with these couples; the woman is usually more sheltered (Belle, Jasmine, Pochahontas*, Rapunzel**, Ariel***) or they both lived decent lives, surrounded by love, regardless of social and economic standing (Aurora and Prince Philip, Tiana and the Frog Prince). Cinderella and Snow White were emotionally abused, but they were still happy and innocent and animals cared for them.
Megara is the closest to Calhoun, in that she’s been screwed over in such a big way that she’s not too happy, is deeply cynical, and pessimistic. She really didn’t want Hercules and, at first; she just used him. Calhoun probably saw Felix as an annoying eight-bit character with a crush on her that she didn’t want to deal with till the bridge (considering her face of absolute discomfort when he was gazing at her after the Nesquick sand in the shuttle, I’d say she hadn’t fallen for him, yet), when he proved to her that he’s not just some love-struck idiot who was caught up in all this hoopla, but he is a genuinely nice guy who cares about people and will stay with her till the end, even though he can’t defend himself, even though he can’t fight, even though she yelled at him, even though… Both of those women had no one; both of them only had themselves to cope. Neither of them had anyone they could rely on for what they had been through and had to handle it, alone. Megara probably lost any friends she had when she gave up her soul to Hades, and Calhoun couldn’t afford to look weak or vulnerable in front of her men.
Felix didn’t have the same social status as these other men, too. Almost all of them are princes (or a demi-god), with the exception of Flynn and Aladin. Almost all of those women are sweet, innocent, sassy, strong women that the men picked up and were turned into princesses, or were already princesses, themselves. Calhoun’s status is actually higher than his; he’s a handyman, she’s a marine.
So, most boys are looking for sweet, kind girls that can make them feel like men. She is rough and tough, and can play with the best of them. She has a tragic background, and it’s affected her life to the point of a mental disorder.
And he doesn’t care. THAT’S what makes this couple so beautiful to me.
We all have our couples, and our favorites, but that one is mine, and will be for a very long time.
*Pochahontas never had to deal with the struggles of cross-world travel and landing in a foreign place. She never had to experience losing crew members, foot shortages, loss of moral, etc.
*Ariel was a princess under the sea with the love of a big family and protection. Prince Eric was out at sea, and, had probably seen some serious shit.
**Rapunzel may have been kidnapped and lied to, but her “mother” never seemed like she physically or emotionally abused Rapunzel. It’s not unless you know the whole story that you think of her as an villainess. Without that, she just seems overprotective and neurotic.

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.
that is honestly one of the best compliments i have ever received. thank you!
To be a princess, you’ve got to believe that you’re a princess. You’ve gotta walk the way you think a princess should walk, so think tall, smile and wave, and just have fun.
