…even if you were too small to understand why.
“Screw writing “strong” women. Write interesting women. Write well-rounded women. Write complicated women. Write a woman who kicks ass, write a woman who cowers in a corner. Write a woman who’s desperate for a husband. Write a woman who doesn’t need a man. Write women who cry, women who rant, women who are shy, women who don’t take no shit, women who need validation and women who don’t care what anybody thinks. THEY ARE ALL OKAY, and all those things could exist in THE SAME WOMAN. Women shouldn’t be valued because we are strong, or kick-ass, but because we are people. So don’t focus on writing characters who are strong. Write characters who are people.”

As much as I love disney I feel like Jane was better at teaching Tarzan to read. She had him read stuff like “see jane run” and easy stuff like that. It was also a picture book. Belle, on the other hand, had him read a big huge chapter book for the first time and, even though they enjoyed reading, she should have started with a picture book.
Maybe the huge difference was that Tarzan has NEVER learned to read. While Beast did learn.
If memory serves the spell could be broken till his 21th birthday. And in the movie it was said that 'it's been 10 years they been rusting, need so much more than dusting'. Meaning the beast was 11 years old when he was cursed. Don’t you think that at the age of 11 he could read pretty well?
May I just point out that Tarzan was learning a whole new language as well …
