Actress Eva Gabor poses with an enlarged Ken Anderson sketch of Duchess, the female lead in the film The Aristocats. Gabor voiced Duchess with her distinct Hungarian accent. She would later return to the studio to play Miss Bianca in The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under.

can we talk about this lady please? How she was an elderly, single woman who literally left all of her property to her cats and how the artists could have just made her a stereotypical crazy old cat lady but instead they made her absolutely fabulous and graceful and she still twirls in front of her mirror like she’s pretending to be a princess at age 60/70/80-something?

Pretending to be a princess? Girl, she a QUEEN.<3

Honestly, there aren’t nearly enough representations of older women as aspirational characters. And I do like that she isn’t a “crazy” cat woman. She’s someone who has perhaps outlived her friends and family, but rather than submit to loneliness made a valid choice to surround herself with cats.

One day I’ll write a fantasy story where it’s the 40+ parents who get whisked on a magical adventure.

I’ll read the shit of that story

In my dreams, Miyazaki will make an animated movie based off it.
